This fantastic trail is 17.5 km long and links the historic mining harbours of Portreath on the Atlantic coast and Devoran on Restronguet Creek which runs into the port of Falmouth on he south coast. Mostly off-road, it can be cycled by anyone of average fitness.

The trail passes through ancient woodland, heathland and many historic mining sites with remains of the Trevithick engine houses that provided motive power for the mines. As well as beautiful countryside and coastal views, the Trail passes many historic mine sites now transformed by nature. It passes via Cambrose and Scorrier down the Poldice Valley and the Carnon riverside. It then closely follows the line of two early horse-drawn tram roads, the Portreath Tramroad, which opened in 1812 to transport coper from Scorrier and St Day, and the Redruth & Chasewater Railway which was built from 1825 to transport copper ore from Gwennap, 'the Copper Kingdom'.  At the time, the mining region around Redruth and Camborne was the world's largest producer of tin and copper.

This trail links in with several other of the Mineral Tramway routes:  the Portreath Branchline Trail at Portreath, the Tehidy Trail, the Tolgus Trail and the Redruth and Chasewater Railway Trail at Twelveheads.
